Could you help shape Port Sunlight?

Port Sunlight Village Trust (PSVT) is seeking a Port Sunlight resident to join its Board at a pivotal moment in the evolution of the organisation and the village. In 2018, PSVT will launch a new 5 year Strategic Plan and 10 year Conservation Management Plan which together articulate a new vision for Port Sunlight, to make the village ‘an inspiring place to live, work and visit.’

 

PSVT is a registered charity and private landlord set up by Unilever in 1999 to be a new custodian of the village. Port Sunlight is a heritage site of international importance, a leading visitor attraction for the Liverpool City Region, and also a dynamic community – home to just over 2,000 residents. It is described as the finest surviving example of early urban planning in the UK and was founded by industrialist William Lever in 1888 as a workers’ village.

 

Today, PSVT’s mission is, ‘We are guardians of a unique and beautiful village, working with its community to ensure a great quality of life for residents and to celebrate William Lever’s amazing legacy through cultural and learning experiences for all.

 

PSVT fulfils its mission by:

  • Maintaining its tenanted stock including 289 residential properties, 323 garages and 8 public buildings, and all of the monuments, memorials, parks and gardens in the village.
  • Operating the award-winning Arts Council England Accredited Port Sunlight Museum, including a tea room, gift shop, Edwardian worker’s cottage, holiday let and venue hire facilities
  • Providing a dedicated community hub for village residents
  • Giving heritage conservation advice and support to owner-occupiers and other private and social landlords operating in the village.

 

We are looking to strengthen the Board with a new resident Board member who has proven Senior Management experience in any of the following areas:

 

  • Health & wellbeing
  • Tourism
  • Fundraising and development
  • Landscape management
  • Commercial income generation
  • Marketing / PR

 

This is an exciting opportunity that will allow the successful candidate to play an active role in the future development of PSVT and the village.
