‘Blow your own Trumpet’ 2018

A fabulous night was had by all at our ‘Blow your own Trumpet’ event, which included the presentation of awards for our annual Port Sunlight Garden Competition. This community event would not have been made possible without the support of local businesses, volunteers and residents who came together to make this event a great success.

We’d like to thank the residents of Port Sunlight for their superb gardens, Port Sunlight Village Trust and Bridge Cottage Community Hub for organising the evening, the Sunlight Quartet for their musical performance and Port Sunlight Garden Centre and Sun Lounge Cafe, Leverhulme Hotel, Boysenberry Catering & Deli and Mere Brook House for the very generous prize’s that had been donated, further thanks to Maggie Sparks, Shannon Kennedy and Liam English for presenting the awards.

The first part of the evening showcased some of the work that was going on in the village, from our community allotment and award winning entry to RHS Tatton, to our Community Hub and Involves Northwest Good Neighbour scheme. Special thanks to Jayne Green, Liam English, Barbara Lee and Susan Smethurst for your inspiring talks.
The second part of the evening which we’d all been waiting for was the awards ceremony, this year we introduced two new awards which were ‘People’s Choice’ and the Maggie Sparks ‘Sunlighter of the Year award. Keep a look out on social media and in our Gazette as we reveal the winners and runner ups.
